THE BROWN ENVELOPE

Today I received a pleasant surprise in the mailbox. A big brown envelope from The Foreign Service of the United States of America, US Consulate General Guangzhou.
Contents: letter saying "Congratulations"... yada yada yada... wait for your referral, map of the US Consular Section location, request for and report on overseas orphan investigation, application for immigrant visa and alien registration, medical examination for immigrant or refugee applicant, and some other paperwork that I can not read. Bottom line, they know we exist and that we would like to come get our daughter. That's a good thing.

Congrats on the Brown Envelope! It's nice to be on the OTHER side of the paper flow - right?

Yeah us too!! There seems to be no rhyme or reason for who gets one and who doesn't. But it did solidify the fact that someone else knows that we would like to come get our daughter.
